I first met Amy back in August when we coincidentally sat next to each at The Beautiful You Life Coaching Academy Inspiration day event. I Flew up to Sydney for some divine connection and inspiration and Amy was studying the course at the time. We instantly connected and her bubbly and beautiful personality was glowing, you just had to look at Amy and you would instantly feel warmth and happiness radiating from her. I am very excited to introduce you to the beautiful Amy Mackenzie.
When people ask you what you do, what do you say to them?
I’ve been practicing getting comfortable with this and my new line is…
I am an Inspirational Lifestyle Coach, bringing passion fuelled women together to dive into their hearts desires and design a life they love. I work with the big dreamers, believers, doers, creatives and entrepreneurs to help them explore a more fulfilled, soulful and inspired lifestyle + business.
How did you get into Life Coaching?
A friend first said to me that I would make a great life coach but thinking this meant counsellor or therapist I quickly shut the idea down as that wasn’t where I saw myself. There I was, searching for ways to help people, make a difference in the world and inspire others to design their dream life when I stumbled across Beautiful You Life Coaching Academy, the name alone got me and then when I saw everything they offered and stood for (plus what being a life coach could really mean) and I was in love + enrolled very soon after.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I had spent a really long time working for other people, helping bring their dreams to life but always felt like I was destined for more, that I had a bigger purpose to fulfil. When I launched Designing her Life on Social media I had no idea what it would turn into or that I was getting ready to build my own business but I knew it was the next step and that big things were coming. I cannot wait to see what happens next.
Whats your favourite thing about having your own business?
Everything! The people I’ve met and connected with (i’ve met some of the most beautiful women, a lot whom I now call friends), the opportunities i’ve been given, the freedom, the alignment I feel within myself, the personal and professional growth but most of all the way it makes me feel being able to help others while living my purpose.
What is the kindest thing one of your clients have ever said to you?
I’ve been so blessed to hear beautiful feedback from all of my clients but nothing will ever beat hearing the words “you’ve changed my life”. That hits deep in my heart for sure.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
“Stop worrying about what other people think”
I am sure we have all been given this piece of (gold) advice but gosh it can been hard to do and yet I know that it so important in living my best life. The less we are worrying about other people the more time and energy we can give to ourselves. The quote “those who matter don’t mind and those who mind don’t matter” rings through my ears.
If you could give yourself 3 pieces of advice from the beginning that you know now, what would they be?
1. Trust yourself. When I listen to my intuition everything always comes together. Deep down you always know what is right for you, better than anybody else. So when the gut is telling you something, pay attention!
2. Make a plan. I’m the kind of girl who rebels against routines and schedules but in business they are needed to some extent. Winging it, isn’t always the best decision when you are working for yourself. Create a flexible schedule that works with the rebel in you, not against it.
3. Ask questions. As many as you can. So many people have done what you are trying to do or have been where you are and they are more than happy to give you all of their insights or advice, you just have to simply ask the question.
