If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably done this test, plus the introvert/extrovert test and many others purely just for some fun! Never taking life too seriously or some words on a computer screen as gospel. Which you shouldn’t anyway.
However I have to say, this test is a fairly good one when it comes to understanding the way people give and receive love.
But first I must clarify, it’s not about being corny, and it’s not just for romantic purposes. This is a great test to understand your friends, partner, family and work colleagues in general.
I made some of my team at the time complete this test 6 months ago as well, and it was fantastic to see the results and how everyone is so unique and different. One person you can shower in hugs to celebrate with, while for another person that would be like hell for them and you perhaps might be better off to give them a small sentimental gift to celebrate. Like cake. Everyone loves cake right?
So no more anticipation, this particular test I am talking about today is the ‘5 Love Languages’ if you’ve done it before, buckle up and do it again, because your results might vary! Mine did a little 6 months apart.
There are 5 main themes about how people give and receive love, and a great video on their homepage you can watch to understand it more if you wish. I found with this that people tend to give love how they most feel loved. Which is great to understand, because the way you and your partner feel loved may be complete opposites and you’re forever picking at each other for him having a ‘boys night’ or not taking out the trash. Let’s just say, becoming a master of this interpretation is going to get you a lot of friends, a smoother work place, and probably a lot more quality time with your partner. (Feel free to forward this one to your partner!)
The 5 Love Languages
1. Words of Affirmation – A beautifully written text or spoken kind words of appreciation or praise for someone.
2. Acts of Services – You go out of your way to do the dishes or run some errands for your partner.
3. Receiving Gifts – You decide to bake your friends favourite cake for her birthday.
4. Quality Time – Spending some alone, uninterrupted time with your loved one. No phones.
5. Physical Touch – You could be a hugger? or this could just be your partner giving you a massage?
Jump on over to their website, and you’ll find the test on their homepage. It’s a bit of fun and it takes 2 minutes, I highly recommend you give it a go and please do share with me in the comments below your scores! I would LOVE to know!
I’ll show you mine if you show me yours.
10 Quality Time
6 Receiving Gifts
5 Physical Touch
5 Words of Affirmation
4 Acts of Service
Quality time still tops my list every time.. You know those people you can just sit on a couch with and not have to say anything but still enjoy their company? Yeah, I love that.
So if you want to find your personality type while you’re at it, i’ll attach the link below. It’s a great one as well but takes roughly 5-10 minutes. Share your personality type below as well! I always find it intriguing if you’re an extrovert or introvert. You can have qualities of both but shy slightly more one way.
