“YOU DON’T NEED TO LOSE WEIGHT TO BE HEALTHY, YOU NEED TO BE HEALTHY TO LOSE WEIGHT”
-Dr Libby Weaver
It needed to be said.
Ladies we have all been guilty of stressing about calories. Wondering how many we just burnt during that run or boxing session. Counting endlessly and googling how many calories are in alcohol or that block of chocolate we just completely devoured. Hey, I know you’ve done it before, or at least you’ve thought about how many burpees it would actually take to burn whatever sweetness it was you’ve just consumed.
It gets confusing with so many ‘fad diets’ and ‘new discoveries’ about fats, carbs, sugars etc flooding the media these days. You really are so incredibly overwhelmed and confused and even frustrated that what you’ve tried hasn’t worked nor stuck yet.
I’m here to assure you that no diet is ever going to work if your goal is weight loss.
The drive behind weight loss is so physically orientated, I get it and I understand it. It’s a desire to change your body image so bad because you just want to fit in to those jeans, you want to get rid of the extra 10kilos that snuck up last year and you don’t even know how. Summer is 3 months away and it’s “I need to lose weight, I need to lose weight” drumming repetitively in your mind. Self bashing, constantly over and over.
We need to change that thought pattern, right about now.
Lets completely change the way you look at food. Instead of focusing on all things you shouldn’t eat and all the things you need to take out. Let’s do a 180 and focus on all the foods you can and should eat, and the nutrients that your body actually needs to survive and thrive.
One of the first things people will say to me when they’re trying to lose weight paying all their attention to something they’re doing that isn’t helping their weight loss such as, “I just need to stop eating all the chocolate”… HELLO you’re focusing on the negative again. Yeah of course you do need to stop eating chocolate every dam day but that thought is not helping you at all.
How about, “I’m going to eat at least 2 cups of vegetables every day” or “I’m going to make a conscious effort to drink a minimum of 2L of water every day” those are the thoughts that are best going to serve you along your road to a healthier mind and body.
So here’s just a few superrr simple tips for focusing on what to ADD IN, keep in mind every body is different.
+ Drink at least 2L of clean water every day.
+ At least 2 cups of vegetables/salad.
+ A handful of unsalted nuts.
+ One protein shake (I have 2 if i’ve had a decent workout) I don’t eat crazy amounts of meat anymore so I do get my extra protein from shakes.
+ I have my Supergreens and fibre every morning without fail + probiotic at night time.
+ Consume 1 cup of green tea to boost my metabolism.
That’s it! For now anyway. We’re going to start small and you can add more non – negotiables to your list as you go on.
No need to overwhelm yourself, baby steps. Just remember the more good nutrients you can fuel your body with, the more efficiently your body will run. No one wants to get sick or be sick so you gotta get some of the good stuff into you.
Beauty comes from within, so stop trying to fix your outsides without paying attention to your insides first.
