When people ask you what you do, what do you say to them?
I create healthy sweets that are free from gluten, dairy, refined sugars and grains! My most popular products are my Bliss Balls which I sell to the public at the local Farmers Market, and in wholesale form to Satan’s Secret Nutrition Bar, Sumo Salad and The Natural Choice.
How did you get into making healthy raw treats?
I am a total sweet tooth, and although I loved healthy food, my downfall was my chocolate and cake intake! I decided to experiment with different ingredients and recipes to create healthy versions of my old favourites! I shared a few with friends and family, and they couldn’t believe they were good for them, so I decided to start “Natural Drift.”
What inspired you to start your own business?
I get asked this question all the time, and I can never pin point the exact thing or person that inspired me to go ahead with it. I started a Facebook page for “Natural Drift” and it literally went mental overnight. I could see that Mildura’s community were ready and waiting, so I got busy! My first market was incredible, and it inspired me to continue reaching more and more people!
Whats your favourite thing about having your own business?
Networking! Connecting with other like-minded people, who are either interested in Holistic Health, or also run businesses of that nature. I have met so many incredible people on this journey, it is true what they say; “your vibe attracts your tribe.”
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
“Don’t you DARE stop now!”
I do believe there was a swear word somewhere in that sentence actually. I had this shouted at me by a fellow stall holder, when business was at a low in the middle of winter. I was getting up every Sunday at 5am to run my market stall and would sit there in the freezing cold waiting for the customers. I was making NO profit, and was ready to throw it all away when I got a phone call from the owners of Satan’s Secret Nutrition Bar saying they wanted to stock my products! Cue motivation!
What is your favourite flavour or creation you have made?
OOOOH! This is tricky. I am really digging my Fig and Coconut Bliss Balls at the moment. A friend and I created them in the kitchen and ate about four each with cheese (don’t judge). Would pair so well with an Organic Sav Blanc! Don’t judge!
If you could give yourself 3 pieces of advice from the beginning that you know now, what would they be?
- Be organised! Mind you, I know this and still struggle with it! I am not your typical O.C.D Virgo that has everything in alphabetical order. Instead my office looks like a bombs hit it. I’m working on it though as I know that life is sooo much easier as a business owner when your books are up to date, and your receipts are in order!
- Be true to yourself. I have had times where my brain gets excited over potential money makers that have a negative vibe about them, but my heart and soul quickly put things into perspective.
- Manifest your dreams! I cannot explain how important this is. It seems like a crazy, hippie trend that doesn’t work but it does. I used it through my final semester of University, where I was studying and running the business all at the same time. I managed to fit it all in, and I owe it all to quality manifestation sessions (and an unhealthy amount of caffeine running through my veins).
